How to Choose Jump Leads

Conductor & Cross-Section

• Pure copper cores offer the lowest resistance and minimal voltage drop.
• A cross-section of 16 mm²+ suits most petrol cars; diesels need heavier cables.

Cranking Current

Cable rating must meet or exceed your battery’s cold-cranking amps (CCA). A safe all-round choice is 400 A or higher.

Cable Length

2.5–3 m is ideal for passenger cars; 4 m+ for vans and trucks. Extra length adds resistance, so choose only what you need.

Insulation Quality

Premium PVC or rubber stays flexible from −40 °C to +80 °C and resists cracking.
